phoebe eats (COMING SOON)
Lamb kebab stir-fry. My course mates told me that most of them avoid the after-clubbing late night scran spots, simply because it's usually mystery meat. The donner kebab to the Western Europeans is like Spam to the Asian Americans or hotdogs to the Americans. It's so fucking delicious in the right moments. What's pictured is innovation from a leftover portion of kebab meat from some shop open at 2:34 AM still on a Tuesday night. I had some bean sprouts and greens left in the fridge. I ripped open a pack of instant noodles and as that was cooking, I turned on the stove and threw the meat and veggies onto a heated skillet. When the noodles came to perfection, I tossed everything together with a few drops of sesame oil (a little goes a long way). I could've added crushed peanuts for that texture and a nutty finish. Nah. I went for a pinch of shichimi powder and sesame seeds. A little spice and a lighter nuttiness. Chopped scallions. Green onions. Whatever you want to call them.
This Phoebe Eats column is going to be all about the adventures I get from eating or cooking. I'll slowly upload the recipes that I try or create. I'll share photos of pure bliss. I'll make recommendations and tips. I failed chemistry in high school and I was never required to take it at university. Yet, who knows, I may do lab demos in the future. If it's got to do with food, it's here.
